Consulting

Full disclosure. Church consulting is not a carefully planned out ministry that we went looking for as part of our Concoxions work. It found us.

With no prompting on our part, along the way various minister friends have asked us to come in and observe what their church was doing and make suggestions as to what they were doing well and what they could do better.

The reality is that as we’ve been doing other ministry, we’ve been going in and observing hundreds of churches for decades. We’ve seen a lot. We’ve learned a lot. We’ve always tried to constantly observe and evaluate our own conferences and ministries with the belief that there are always things we can do better. Like it or not, that tendency has carried over into noticing and evaluating how things are done and can be improved in other settings but especially including churches and productions. I notice not only the big things, but lots of little things as well. It’s hard to turn off. I’ve tried. Believe it or not, my evaluation doesn’t come from a critical spirit, but usually from caring.

Please know that we claim no specific church training credentials except many years of experiences with churches and church leaders.

Sometimes fresh eyes and fresh ideas can be helpful. When we’ve been enlisted to help in this way, it usually starts with us subtly visiting church services and activities at random times with very few people knowing why we are there. Afterwards we make a lot of notes, maybe talk with various leaders and members, and eventually share verbal and written reports of encouragement and suggestions with whoever enlisted us and sometimes other key leaders. What we do is very flexible and tailored to the specific situation.

Again, this is not a major part of what we do, but has proven helpful to both some new and established churches. Our time and circumstances for helping in this way are limited, but let us know if you are interested in gaining a different perspective on your overall church ministry or certain areas of ministry.
